Mana Pools
Project Type
Photography
Date
July 2025
Location
Mana Pools, Mashonaland West: Zimbabwe
Far North towards the mighty Zambezi lies a stretch of land covering almost 22000 hectares. Mana is vast, remote and remains one of the few real wilderness areas left in the world.
The park is so named 'Mana' after the four pools (Green Pool, Chisasiko, Chine & Long Pool), with Mana meaning 'Four' in our local language 'Shona'.
Although only spending a brief few days here, I already managed to gain a sense of its' peace, vastness and untamed nature. I was in awe of the giant Apple ring Acacias which towered above the dusty and barren lands, which were left almost lifeless due to visiting in peak Winter. I hope to spend more time in my future exploring this unique landscape and studying its specially adapted inhabitants.
